The introduction to this non-stick ceramic pan was presented by our cousin Catherine with strong encouragement to add to the list of items to review. We tried to get her to write the article as a guest contributor but for now she is a very busy mother of two darling young girls that keep her busy and doesn’t have a moment to share. So, Catherine keep up the good work by sending recommendations our way to review.
Back to the Always Pan which will be your new:
·      Colander
·      Fry pan
·      SpatulaÂ
·      Steamer
·      Skillet
·      Non-stick pan
·      Saucier
·      Spatula rest
What else do you want in a pan that also adds value to your arsenal of saucepans.
Yes, all of the above in one unit. Non-stick ceramic coating and a practical piece made with thoughtful design. Doing the job of 8 cookware pieces. The lid is notched so the spatula tucks under the lid to store but still acts as a steamer if you turn the lid away from the notched part. Also the spatula can rest on the handle and acts as a spoon rest. Great for a small space kitchen or excellant for a gift for someone just starting out and setting up a household. Available in six colors and I ordered the sage color.
After receipt of the order, which was packaged very neatly and included biodegradable casing, I made my first meal which was shrimp scampi. In this case it wasn’t a true test of the non-stick capabilities since there is a ton of butter in shrimp scampi. I found the pan was easy to use, easy to handle and lift, food rolled right out of the pan and all of the pieces (8) fit neatly back together for the next time it is to be used.
As timing would have it when I decided to write about the pan there was a review in my latest Cook’s Illustrated magazine (May & June 2021). Their review of the pan was recommended but with reservations. They stated that the company promises (never found that word on their website) that this pan would replace your frying pan, sautee pan, steamer, skillet, saucier saucepan, non-stick pan, spatula, and spoon rest. As noted, before it can do all of these things, but you couldn’t use it simultaneously to prepare for a multi course meal. Duh!
Well, it does have all of those components but that wasn’t what I was looking for it to accomplish. The pan looked intriguing, my cousin recommended it and it was a beautiful design and concept. Like other things that I have duplicates of I did ask myself the age old question– ‘do I need another pan? ‘And the answer was yes. The size was perfect, and I needed a replacement for a failing non-stick pan. Cook’s Magazine also mention that the spatula dug into your hand and the sides were too high. Contrary as the spatula fits comfortably in your hand and I liked the sides a little taller to prevent splattering onto the stovetop. I think now I will read the recommendations from Cook’s with reservations.Â
